“The true origins of the craft of rope making are lost in history, but there is fossil evidence of rope usage dating back to 17000BC. These early ropes were likely to be long pieces of vine twisted or braided together by hand. The ancient Egyptians were most likely the first civilization to develop tools for constructing ropes around 4000BC. Such ropes would have been made out of grass, water reeds or animal hair. These ropes would have been used by the Egyptians in constructing their colossal structures such as the pyramids that still stand today.” [Source: Rope Source]
The use of rope only expanded in the 1900’s. In the Victorian era, this rare rope object became common. People began to use rope in factories to form lines, or to decorate a building. Some even used to hold furniture or home accessories. Which created a new function for rope. A rope could be used in many ways; For construction, buildings, organization, decor and much more.

Our first Rope Vase was is the Grey Raindrop Rope Vase. This rope vase design was created show Modern Chic. A design term that is used to describe most of our rope vases. All of our vases are made of glass, but when we designed the Rope Vase Collection we wanted the rope to show the rough texture that is apart of the beauty. As a reminder to people that there is always a tough part of something beautiful.
